1ST NATIONAL CONGRESS OF READING

From 5th to 7th April 2006 , Annur attended at the 1 st National Congress of Reading hold in Cáceres.

The main aim of this congress was to offer a complete vision of the reading phenomenon at the beginning of the 21st century.

It was organized in six main fields:

Reading and creation

- Reading and education
- Reading and cultural industries
- New readings, new readers
- Reading and media
- Reading and society

This Congress was conceived at the highest level in Spain and holding it in Cáceres meant a bigger support of the attendants to the candidature of this city as European Capital of Culture in 2016. For Extremadura, it also meant recognition to the efforts made until now to promote the public reading as the increase of the number of libraries or the number of usual readers show.

This Congress had also a sentimental component as its first edition should have been hold in autumn 1936 promoted by Enrique Díez-Canedo (poet, essayist, translator, editor, man of culture who died in Mexico during his exile).
